A lush retrospective of the award-winning Coad Canada Puppets. Luman and Arlyn
Coad, with such diverse backgrounds and talents, met, and blended their creativity
and energy to form one of North America’s leading puppet theatres. The
Coads received both the President’s Award and the Trustees’ Award from the Puppeteers of America, and a total of 8 Citations of Excellence in the Art of Puppet Theatre from the
American Center of the Union Internationale de la Marionnette. In
2006 they were inducted as Pioneers in the British Columbia Entertainment Hall
of Fame. They were invited to perform in nearly twenty countries around the world.
The book includes more than 70 colour photographs by Richard Termine, who also photographs Broadway shows and the Muppets. There are also 25+ black and white press photographs from the Coads' early productions.
"A beautiful and comprehensive look at the award-winning work of Coad Canada... The book is an essential document about the art of puppetry and puppet history."
Steve Abrams, Puppetry Journal
"Theatre Art of Coad Canada Puppets" is a loving tribute to the work of Arlyn Coad, and a thoughtful account of the theater she and Luman Coad made for over three decades. This book shows the high artistic quality of Coad Canada...and burnish(es) the company's already substantial prestige."
John Bell, Puppetry International
