Black Theatre

By Coad Canada Puppets

Black Theatre is a staging technique which uses ordinary incandescent light channelled into a carefully controlled flat, vertical beam or
'light curtain.' The advantage of Black Theatre is the puppets are no longer bound to the stage floor and can move freely in the vertical
as well as horizontal planes, and can appear or vanish with ease. This technique is well explained and clearly diagrammed with sections
covering: What is Black Theatre? Light - the Basis of Black Theatre, Backdrop and Manipulators' Costume, Scrim, Scenery, Stage,
Puppets, and Manipulation.
